Kyle Simpson, a 26-year-old volunteer crew member at Rhyl RNLI, has died suddenly after only a few months with the station. The RNLI praised his eagerness to learn, work maintaining the station and assets, participation in service calls and social activities, and his infectious laugh and cheeky character. Flags at the station and lifeboat memorials have been lowered to half-mast, while the RNLI expressed condolences to his family, friends and fellow crew members.

A fire broke out at Awel Y Mor Primary School in Port Talbot, prompting the swift evacuation of toddlers attending the Lots of Tots holiday club. Thick smoke and flames were seen as fire crews from multiple nearby stations worked for over two hours to extinguish the blaze, which affected the school’s sandwich panels. The playgroup will remain closed while damage is assessed and plans for a safe return are made. Local authorities have been contacted for further information.
