Met Office issues rain update for Tuesday - but three UK regions still face drought
Rain and showers are forecast for Northern Ireland, Scotland, western England and Wales on Tuesday, but much of the Midlands, eastern England and south-east England is expected to remain dry. England and Wales have experienced their driest July on record, with drought affecting all of Wales and half of England. Record heat, health alerts, poor agricultural yields, water shortages and wildfires are intensifying concerns about food production and public health, while temperatures are expected to ease later in the week.
