A 40-year-old woman was found dead at the White Star Line Hotel in central Liverpool after paramedics reported that she had become unwell. Police are treating the death as unexplained while awaiting toxicology results following a post-mortem examination. A 47-year-old man, a 34-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of murder or assisting an offender and conditionally bailed while investigations continue.

Merseyside Police introduced a Section 60 order in Liverpool city centre after reported fights and assaults involving youths armed with machetes. The emergency powers allow officers to stop and search people aged 12 to 30 who they reasonably suspect may be involved in violence, criminality or disorder without needing specific reasonable grounds. Chief Inspector Chris Ruane said the measure is intended to disrupt criminal activity while minimising disruption to lawful visitors and residents, and urged parents and the wider community to help prevent youth involvement in crime.

Armed officers responded to City Road in Walton, Liverpool after reports that one of three men arguing was holding a gun. Police detained a 48-year-old man and recovered an imitation firearm, with no injuries reported. Searches continue for two other men involved, and authorities say there is no ongoing public threat. Chief Inspector Andy Foster urged residents to provide information to help combat gun crime.
