Calls for Culdrose Road average speed cameras review after FOI
A campaign led by Dennis Lucan is calling for the planned average speed cameras on the A3083 past RNAS Culdrose in Helston to be paused and formally reviewed. Campaigners are also seeking clarification over funding discrepancies, petition rules and whether resources should instead support targeted enforcement and road engineering. Cornwall Council says funding was secured as part of normal scheme development and that its decision considered consultation responses, collision history, speed data, coroner recommendations and its road-safety responsibilities.

Hundreds of jellyfish stranded at Bude Sea Pool in Cornwall
Hundreds of jellyfish, mostly harmless moon jellyfish, were washed ashore and stranded at Bude Sea Pool in Cornwall, requiring staff to remove 11 wheelbarrows and 20 trugs of them to make the pool safe for visitors. The pool team noted that jellyfish commonly appear along the coast at this time of year due to warm sea temperatures, though a bloom of this size is unusual. Once stranded, the jellyfish cannot survive and were left to become part of the natural coastal ecosystem. Staff also reported finding a few blue and barrel jellyfish and encouraged the public to learn more or report sightings through the Marine Conservation Society.
