Former paratrooper Karl Bushby, who has spent nearly three decades walking from Chile to Hull without using motorized transport, may face renewed obstacles completing the final leg of his journey due to French rules that prevent him from swimming across the English Channel toward the UK. Eurotunnel previously denied his request to walk through the service tunnel, leaving swimming as his only option under his self‑imposed rules. Bushby is coordinating with French authorities while preparing a support boat for a possible October swim. His journey has involved numerous setbacks, including detentions, visa problems and extreme crossings such as the Bering Strait and the Caspian Sea. He hopes to return to Belgium in September and attempt the Channel crossing before completing his walk to Hull.

Police pursued Jordan McGrath-Culstock after he was spotted driving a vehicle with no tax or valid MOT despite being disqualified and barred from possessing a phone. He led officers on a high‑speed chase in Kent, crashed, and fled on foot while holding a vape. He pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and multiple breaches of sex‑offender restrictions and received a sentence of more than two years at Maidstone Crown Court. Investigators said he showed disregard for public safety and his legal obligations.
