Action taken against owners of former Urmston nursing home
Trafford Council has boarded up the derelict former Serendipity Nursing Home on Greenfield Road in Urmston after its owners failed to comply with a formal repair notice. The work was ordered to prevent vandalism, unauthorised entry and risks to public health, with the owners to be billed under Section 29 of the Local Government Act. Councillor Keleigh Glenton said the building had deteriorated over several years and been linked to repeated antisocial incidents.
Takeaway owner prosecuted after ignoring penalty notices
Takeaway owner Amar Ashraf Abdulaki was fined £700 and ordered to pay a £280 victim surcharge and £496.10 in costs after being convicted in his absence for ignoring five £100 penalty notices. Trafford Council said overflowing bins at his Genie takeaway on Seymour Grove contributed to waste accumulation and rat concerns in the area. The council had previously required local businesses to store rubbish securely, but officers found the problem recurring on five occasions.
