Gatwick Airport issues reopening statement after weekend water problems
Gatwick Airport lost its water supply for most of Sunday after an issue at the Bough Beech Water Treatment Works, forcing restaurants, cafes and toilets across both terminals to close. The airport distributed bottled water and said all flights departed as scheduled. Water had returned to most of the campus by late Sunday, with all toilets and food outlets expected to reopen for Monday’s first flights. The airport attributed the disruption to a local water-supply problem and said it was working with SES Water and airport partners to restore normal operations.

Met Office Forecasts August Heatwave Window as Drought Declared in Parts of UK
The Met Office says an additional UK heatwave may occur between August 10 and 24, with temperatures likely to be above average and rainfall below normal, particularly in southern areas. The forecast follows three heatwaves earlier in the summer and comes as drought has been declared in Wales, while other parts of the country face prolonged dry weather. Early August may initially bring very warm conditions in southeast England, alongside periods of rain, strong winds and thunderstorms elsewhere.
