Plans to redevelop Luton car plant site recommended for approval
Planning officers recommended approval for Goodman's outline proposal to redevelop the former Vauxhall Motors plant in Luton into a commercial and industrial park. The 36‑hectare site would feature zones for businesses of various sizes, an ecological buffer and facilities such as parking and a cafe, with detailed designs to follow in later applications. Goodman projects the redevelopment could create around 2,400 jobs and generate nearly £160m annually for the local economy. Luton Borough Council's planning committee is set to review the plans on 22 July.
