About Femi
Since my interest is in security and crisis-related matters, my goal is to pursue a transnational investigative journalism career, one that allows for investigative journalism missions into different countries where valuable information on security and conflict will be unearthed and widely publicized to generate meaningful response for substantial improvement.

My specific project targets include works on defense contracts, welfare of military personnel, political administration in conflict regions, post-conflict reconstruction, forced migration, Internally Displaced Persons-- IDPs welfare, and IDPs resettlement.

As an experienced investigative journalist familiar with the target [Boko Haram] crisis territory, I always rely on the proven result-oriented approaches, strategies and tools I have employed so far, while exploring new support channels for greater impact.

So far, I have relied on a broad local network, a reliable secretive pool of informants in official circles, surreptitious coverage gadgets like video camera glasses and voice recording wrist watches, community integration, detailed documentation of findings, close-knit peer review of draft findings, and factual reporting.

In March 2016, I was among the few journalists drawn from fifteen West African countries to attend a course/workshop on "Improving Media Coverage of Conflict and Peace-Building in West Africa" at the University of Ghana, Legon.

In February, 2016, I won the City People Social Media Journalist of the Year Award.

Shekau’s death, FG’s efforts -- Nigeria makes progress on global terrorism index

04 Mar 2022  |  thecable.ng
Nigeria improved its position on the 2022 Global Terrorism Index, dropping from fourth to sixth place. The decline in terrorism-related deaths to the lowest level since 2011 is attributed to the death of Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau and government efforts. Despite a rise in attacks, Boko Haram's influence has waned, with ISWA becoming the deadliest group in Nigeria. Borno State remains the most affected region, although it saw a significant decrease in terrorism deaths. Boko Haram's decline has led to increased attacks in neighboring countries like Cameroon.
