A teaspoon of this 'love it or hate it' spread could 'calm' the brain
Professor Tim Spector says Marmite could be considered a health food because it contains protein, B vitamins and compounds from brewer’s yeast. A small 2017 study found that consuming a yeast extract product daily for a month reduced brain responses associated with stress by about 30%, but the article notes that Marmite is not a probiotic because its yeast is heated and no longer alive. Much larger studies are needed before firm health or clinical conclusions can be drawn.
