“Kind soul” British woman found dead in Athens suitcase remembered in heartfelt tributes
Elisabeth Jane Ross, a 38-year-old Scottish woman, was found dead inside a suitcase in an abandoned building in Athens’s Kypseli district on 18 July 2026, about eight days after her death. Greek police have found no visible injuries or evidence of a struggle but are investigating a possible criminal act, including the apparent use of Ross’s phone to send messages after her death. Toxicology and post-mortem examinations are pending, while Greek authorities are working with Interpol, American investigators and Police Scotland. Friends and relatives have paid tribute to Ross as a kind and compassionate person; no suspect has been named.
