Parents say this Disney Princess is the best role model for young girls
A OnePoll survey of 1,250 young women, mothers and grandmothers found that confidence, kindness and resilience are viewed as key qualities for girls navigating modern life. Ninety-four percent said strong female role models in films and television are important, while nearly 80% of mothers said Disney Princesses influence girls’ character and behavior. Moana was the princess mothers most wanted their daughters to emulate, followed by Belle and Merida. Respondents also reported passing the franchise’s values to younger generations through shared viewing and activities, with Disney executives and Motsi Mabuse emphasizing the lasting influence of the characters.

The unexpected everyday moments that bring UK adults the most joy
A survey of 2,000 UK adults found that small, unexpected moments such as finding a parking space, discovering money in old clothing, or arriving home before rainfall are key sources of everyday joy. Many rely on these moments, particularly midweek, to boost their mood. Time-saving wins and completing daily tasks also significantly improve morale, while work stress and fatigue have the strongest negative effects. Gala promoted the findings with a ‘Push for Joy’ button installation in Manchester and plans to bring it to Brighton, offering visitors chances to win small prizes aimed at lifting spirits.
