#Liberia's Supreme Court to Rule Friday on Case Against 'Prophet Key' for False Corruption Claims
Monrovia, Liberia (FRED Snorton AFP freelancer) Liberia's Supreme Court is set to issue its final ruling on Friday at 11:00 a.m. local time in the case of Justin Oldpa Yeazeahn, known as "Prophet Key," accused of making unfounded corruption allegations against the Chief Justice.
During hearings before the full bench, defence lawyers for Prophet Key requested leniency, admitting the claims were baseless and expressing regret on behalf of their client.
Counsel for the Chief Justice, however, called for punitive sanctions, arguing that such measures were necessary to deter similar conduct and safeguard judicial integrity.
Following the proceedings, Prophet Key addressed reporters, offering a public apology to the Chief Justice and the court, acknowledging his error and pledging not to repeat it.
The decision will determine the penalty, if any, to be imposed.

Liberia is grappling with an unprecedented climatic anomaly as heavy downpours continue to drench the country during what should be the heart of its dry season. In February — typically a period of intense sunshine and minimal rainfall — torrential rains have persisted, flooding communities, crippling agricultural activities, and halting vital infrastructure work.
The West African nation traditionally experiences two distinct seasons: a dry period spanning January to June, characterized by abundant sunlight, low humidity, and sparse precipitation, followed by a rainy season that dominates the remaining six months from July to December. This year, however, the expected dry spell has been upended, with relentless showers transforming parched landscapes into waterlogged expanses.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday, June 12, received a high-level courtesy visit from an advance delegation of the African Union’s Department of Political Affairs, Peace and Security (PAPS), alongside civil society partner Messengers of Peace-Liberia Inc. (MOP). The delegation was led by Liberia’s Global Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS) Expert, Gwendolyn Myers.
The visit marked the official launch of the African Union’s Pre-Assessment Mission to Liberia, aimed at evaluating logistical and technical preparations for the upcoming Youth Strategy Forum on Peacebuilding and the Right to Development, set to take place in Monrovia later this year.
