Saltburn Smugglers release new single ahead of final show of the season
Saltburn Smugglers have released their live-recorded single “Leave Her Johnny” ahead of the final Shanties on the Shore performance of the summer on Saltburn’s upper promenade. Recorded at Richmond’s Georgian Royal Theatre, the song is the second track from the group’s forthcoming EP. The band says its coastal shows have developed a strong following, attracting visitors from several hours away, while its wider theatre performances and online audience continue to grow.

Army veteran's PTSD struggle overcome with support from NHS
Army veteran Mark Hughes says specialist NHS employment support helped him manage PTSD, anxiety and depression, overcome repeated job rejections and return to work in a security role. Referred to the Teesside Individual Placement and Support service, he received help with his CV, applications and interview preparation from employment specialist Nicky Logan. Hughes now encourages other men and military veterans to seek help, while the trust reports that its programme has helped secure more than 2,100 paid jobs since 2019.

Stockton International Riverside Festival: Everything You Need to Know
Stockton International Riverside Festival 2026 will run from July 31 to August 2, featuring more than 100 free performances across Stockton-on-Tees. The programme includes street theatre, dance, music, circus acts, interactive art, a Community Carnival involving more than 800 local participants, food and drink, and a closing aerial dance performance. A new waterfront park will host events, while accessible viewing areas, British Sign Language interpretation and support services will be available. Visitors are encouraged to walk, cycle or use public transport and check travel and festival social-media updates because of temporary road closures and possible weather-related changes.
