The French Quarter, also known as 'Vieux Carré', is the oldest neighborhood in New Orleans, founded by Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne de Bienville in 1718. The area, originally called 'Nouvelle-Orléans' during French colonization, features historic buildings from the late 18th century and early 19th century, reflecting architectural styles similar to those found in Haiti. VOA Kreyòl covers the traditional and cultural Mardi Gras carnival in New Orleans, highlighting the participation of several Haitian groups in the 'The Destination Konpa' event from February 15 to 19, including Kreyòl la, Zafem, K-dilak & Bedjine, and Roody Roodboy.
