Asylum seeker who groomed and raped girl, 13, jailed
Abdul Khan was sentenced to nine and a half years in prison after being convicted of grooming and raping a 13-year-old girl in a Nottingham nature reserve. He had posed as a teenager on Snapchat, denied meeting the victim despite DNA evidence, and was already serving a sentence for sexually communicating with another child. Khan faces automatic deportation to Afghanistan after serving two-thirds of his sentence and must register as a sex offender indefinitely. Cyclist killed in crash with car on rural road near Litton
A cyclist, a man in his 50s, died at the scene after colliding with a Honda Civic near the Mires Lane junction on the A623 near Litton in Derbyshire. The car driver sustained minor injuries. Derbyshire Police has notified the cyclist’s family and is appealing for witnesses.

Seven people injured in three-car crash on A617 in Chesterfield
Seven people—four women and three men—were injured when a Citroen C3, Vauxhall Insignia and Volkswagen Polo collided on Chesterfield’s A617 Hasland Bypass. Woman arrested after man stabbed in Market Harborough
A man in his 20s was found critically injured with a stab wound in Market Harborough late Sunday night, and another man with significant hand and arm cuts approached officers soon after. Joy as webcam captures young Rutland osprey's maiden flight
A young male osprey identified as 8R5 made its first flight from the nest at Rutland Water, captured on the Rutland Osprey Project’s webcam. Wildlife staff reported the bird has continued short flights and expect its siblings to follow soon. The project, celebrating its 30th anniversary, has recorded more than 300 fledglings since 1996 and continues to monitor the birds at Manton Bay.

Fourth attempted murder arrest after boy stabbed in Sneinton
