Man stabbed ex-wife 12 times as she pushed a pram down the street
Osarenkhoe Atutie was sentenced to nine years for attempting to murder his estranged wife, Victory Atutie, in Edinburgh after travelling from London and lying in wait for her. He stabbed her 12 times as she pushed their daughter in a pram, causing a collapsed lung, bleeding in the chest and permanent scarring. Three passers-by disarmed and restrained him until police arrived, likely saving her life. The judge cited Atutie’s anger over contact with his daughter, the assault occurring in front of the child and his limited appreciation of the harm caused as aggravating factors. The sentence includes seven years and six months in custody followed by 18 months on licence, along with an indefinite non-harassment order.
