Karaoke bar customers danced as medics tried to save man, police say
Police said customers continued dancing, alcohol sales continued and music was not stopped while paramedics tried to save Shane Cullen after an assault at Blues Cabaret and Karaoke Bar in Ashton-under-Lyne. Greater Manchester Police cited major failures in management, supervision, security, CCTV provision and emergency response. Tameside Council suspended the venue’s licence for three months and imposed new conditions, including earlier alcohol cut-off times, mandatory searches, improved CCTV and a new designated premises supervisor. Carl Cooper has been charged with Cullen’s murder and is due to stand trial in January 2027.
