Fugitive Scots sex offender captured by Spanish cops in major surveillance sting
John Rocks, a 37-year-old Scottish man wanted by Police Scotland over alleged sexual offences committed between 2012 and 2022, was arrested by Spain’s National Police on a Madrid street on August 1, 2026. Investigators had searched for him in Benidorm and conducted surveillance after an international arrest warrant was issued in February. Officers identified him through visible tattoos and fingerprint analysis despite his use of a cap, glasses and false personal details. He appeared before a Madrid court and is being held pending a decision on extradition to the United Kingdom.
