After Gill Kohler was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer and underwent successful surgery following radiotherapy and chemotherapy, her husband Stuart became a carer and patient representative with the Greater Manchester Cancer Voices Community. Drawing on his experience, he advocates greater awareness of the emotional and practical pressures faced by carers and encourages people with lived experience to help shape cancer services. He praises the healthcare professionals who treated Gill and says sharing their experience could make the cancer journey easier for other families.
