Brothers jailed for killing dad while racing cars home from Wales
Abubakr Ben Yusaf was sentenced to 14 years in prison after being convicted of causing the death of Rhys Jenkins and seriously injuring Jenkins’s nine-year-old son, Ioan, while racing his BMW with his brother on the A483/A482 near Welshpool. Umar Ben Yusaf received two years and nine months for careless driving and contributing to the fatal incident. Witnesses described dangerous overtaking, excessive speed, tailgating and driving on the wrong side of the road. Both brothers initially fled in Umar’s Audi before he returned to the scene, and Dyfed-Powys Police said their actions showed disregard for other road users.
