A 17-year-old boy and two men aged 21 and 23 died when the SEAT Cupra Leon they were travelling in left Denaby Lane near Rotherham at about 23:40 BST on Saturday. Another 17-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital. No other vehicles were involved, and South Yorkshire Police are seeking witnesses and dashcam footage.

Knurr and Spell, a traditional northern working-class sport sometimes called “poor man’s golf,” is being revived at Thurgoland near Barnsley for Yorkshire Day. Historian Boz Davison and former champions have restarted competitions first held in 2024, seeking to preserve a game once popular across Yorkshire and Lancashire. Rail upgrades in West Yorkshire will disrupt travel over two consecutive weekends as Network Rail carries out track renewal, tunnel repairs and engineering work around Menston. Police appealed for witnesses after a man riding a black Triumph motorcycle died when it struck a kerb on the A57 Sheffield Parkway. The rider was pronounced dead at the scene, and no other vehicles were involved. Authorities requested information from anyone who saw the motorbike or has relevant dashcam footage.

Initial work has begun on improving walking, wheeling and cycling routes between Sheffield’s city centre and its southern neighbourhoods.
