Banned driver in stolen Maserati killed pensioner in garden in 85mph crash
Fraser Garden, a driver with 90 previous convictions and two lifetime driving bans, admitted causing the death of 74-year-old John Bell by dangerous driving in Broughty Ferry. Garden stole a Maserati Quattroporte, drove at up to 85mph in a 30mph zone while under the influence of cocaine, and crashed through a hedge into Bell’s garden. Bell died at the scene. The High Court in Edinburgh described Garden’s actions as “truly appalling” and deferred sentencing until 21 August.
