Northern Ireland goalkeeper Luke Southwood has joined Blackpool from Bristol Rovers for an undisclosed fee on a one-year contract with an option for another year. He will compete with fellow Northern Ireland international Bailey Peacock-Farrell for the starting goalkeeper role. Southwood previously worked with Blackpool manager Ian Evatt at Bolton Wanderers and said that reunion was a major factor in his decision. The 28-year-old has two senior international caps and was recalled for Northern Ireland’s June friendlies after being left out of the squad for the World Cup play-off against Italy.

UEFA opened urgent disciplinary proceedings against Derry City and CSKA Sofia following serious crowd disorder during their Europa League qualifier in Derry, where violent clashes and racist behaviour were reported. Derry City potentially faces a substantial fine and a partial stadium closure, while both clubs confront multiple charges linked to disturbances, object throwing and inadequate security. Police intervened after violence erupted before and during the match, resulting in injuries and families fleeing onto the pitch. Both clubs condemned the incidents as investigations continue and decisions are expected the following week.
