Essex grandmother installs 800 bleed kits after grandson’s death
After her 19-year-old grandson Liam was killed in a knife crime incident in Writtle in 2020, Julie Taylor founded the Liam Taylor Legacy to campaign against knife carrying and support communities across Essex. The charity has funded and distributed about 800 bleed control kits, which Taylor says have helped save at least four lives. She also speaks in schools, prisons and community groups, promoting education, anonymous reporting through Fearless and prevention alongside policing measures. Taylor, who received a British Empire Medal, says her work is driven by grief and a determination to prevent other families from suffering similar loss.
