Prosecutors resumed a preliminary hearing in Utah for Tyler Robinson, accused of fatally shooting activist Charlie Kirk during a speech at Utah Valley University. They planned to present a recorded statement from Robinson’s roommate along with additional law enforcement videos, marking the most substantial evidence submitted so far in the case.

A former Utah Valley University police officer testified that he discovered what appeared to be a sniper position on a rooftop overlooking the site where Charlie Kirk was assassinated, supporting prosecutors’ efforts to advance a murder case against a Utah man. The officer said the location provided a clear view of the area where Kirk was shot while addressing a large crowd.

Utah prosecutors argued before a state judge that sufficient evidence exists to try the man accused of killing Charlie Kirk and pursue the death penalty. Kirk’s parents, widow Erika Kirk, and Donald Trump Jr. attended the hearing but left after the first witness, a police officer, began describing Kirk’s arrival on campus the day of the shooting.
