Year 6 pupils at St Gregory’s Catholic Academy in Roseworth, Stockton, raised £717 during their annual enterprise day and donated £150 to the chemotherapy unit at the University Hospital of North Tees. The fundraising was inspired by classmate Jude Dixon, whose mother Lisa was treated for breast cancer at the unit. After surgery and chemotherapy, Lisa recently completed her treatment and praised the care she received. Jude, classmates and teaching assistants presented the donation to the unit, whose manager Jennie Gibbs thanked the pupils and staff for their generosity.

The Yorkshire Dales Aeration & Soil Health Roadshow will visit the River Wharfe and River Nidd catchments in August, offering farmers and landowners practical demonstrations and expert advice on improving soil structure, reducing compaction, lowering input costs and increasing grassland productivity. The events are being organized by the Yorkshire Dales Rivers Trust and The Aire Rivers Trust, with talks from soil health expert Charlie Morgan and machinery demonstrations by SUMO and Aerworx. The Wharfe event will take place at Gamsworth Farm, Barden, on August 19, while the Nidd event will be held at Spring Field Farm, Langer Hill Lane, High Birstwith, on August 21.
