Murder investigation launched after daytime stabbing at council offices
A young man, believed to be a teenager or in his early 20s, died after being stabbed outside Brent Civic Centre in Wembley at 2:25pm. The Metropolitan Police launched a murder investigation, imposed enhanced stop-and-search powers across parts of Brent and made no arrests initially. The civic centre and Wembley Library were evacuated and closed, while police worked to identify the victim, notify his family and trace those responsible. Brent Council leader Muhammed Butt urged the public to avoid the area and not spread unverified claims.
