Hemn Seyedi

I am Hemn Seyedi a journalist and political scientist based in London, United Kingdom.

I was born in Mahabad into a political family and was involved in political activities at an early age while studying Architecture in Hamedan.

I lived in Iraqi Kurdistan for seven years (2001-2008). I worked in the academic field as a lecturer at the University of Salahaddin and Koya University.

I moved to the UK in 2008, starting new courses of study in the field of politics;

MSc Middle East in Global Politics, 2017, University of London,

Mphil Iranian Studies, University of St Andrews, 2019,

PhD Kurdish Studies, University of Exeter, since 2025.

I held my viva successfully in September 2025.

I worked with the media as a Middle East expert, contributing to BBC Persian, Manoto TV (a Persian TV based in London), VOA Kurdish in Washington, and Radio Farda in Prague.
