BrewDog founder contacted ex-shareholders in bid to take back control of firm
James Watt contacted former BrewDog shareholders while attempting to regain control of the company through his new firm, Second Best, prompting complaints to the Information Commissioner’s Office over potential misuse of personal data. BrewDog’s brand and assets had been acquired by Tilray in a rescue deal earlier in the year, rendering equity crowdfunders’ shares worthless. Tilray denied sharing any shareholder information and said the brand is not for sale. The ICO is assessing the data privacy concerns raised.
