Towering Sutton Windmill in Norfolk on the Market for £1.5m
The 230-year-old Grade II-listed Sutton Windmill near Stalham, Norfolk, is on the market for £1.5 million after Kyle Smart and Lisa Smith spent several years restoring the derelict site. The former grain mill, believed to be the tallest surviving windmill structure in the UK and the second tallest in Europe, now includes a family home, a three-bedroom holiday let and landscaped grounds. The owners retained historic features and installed a new cap but could not obtain permission to convert the mill itself. They are selling to downsize and seek a property with enough land for their horses.

Walsingham business loses £1,500 from Langham Street Fayre
Contemporary Catering Company, a Walsingham-based catering business, says it could lose more than £1,500 after all 55 card payments for pizzas sold at the Langham Street Fayre failed. The company switched its card reader to offline mode because of connectivity problems, but later found that the transactions had been declined despite appearing to be approved. Square’s guidance states that businesses are responsible for offline payments that later fail or are disputed. Customers are being asked to check their bank accounts and contact the business if the payment did not leave their account.

Cromer Country Club Could Get New Roof Under Major Works
Hilton Grand Vacations (Europe) Limited has submitted plans to replace the roof on the brick section of Cromer Country Club’s 1980s leisure building on Overstrand Road. Existing clay tiles would be reused where possible, with replacements matched to the current roof. Because nesting herring gulls and potentially other birds use the building, the work would require measures to avoid disturbing active nests during the breeding season. North Norfolk District Council will consider the application.

Parking in East Runton Leads to Norfolk Road Safety Fears
Residents in East Runton have raised road-safety concerns about vehicles parked on Felbrigg Road, where cars reportedly block driveways, cause congestion and force overtaking on a blind bend, resulting in near-misses. Runton Parish Council has installed no-parking signs, wooden stakes and other deterrents, although it lacks formal highways powers. Norfolk County Council says it cannot enforce parking because no official restrictions apply at the location, while Norfolk Police has been asked to comment. The council supports tourism but says the village’s roads cannot cope with the volume of vehicles during busy summer periods.

Brown hares were captured boxing on Blakeney Point
A National Trust trail camera recorded two brown hares boxing near a ringed plover nest on Blakeney Point in Norfolk. Visitors are urged to remain on paths, avoid fenced areas, and keep dogs away from nesting zones to protect the hares and shorebirds.
