Energy bills rise this week but experts predict no further increase in October
Household energy bills will rise by £221 annually from July as Ofgem raises the price cap to £1,862, but falling wholesale gas prices linked to an interim US–Iran peace deal are expected to prevent a further increase in October. Analysts predict the cap will remain stable, though high costs continue to strain households, with energy debt reaching a record £4.79 billion. The government may consider targeted winter support, and Good Energy’s chief executive urges market reform to reduce bills and accelerate the shift away from gas.
