Britto Lorence was sentenced to an 18-month community order, including 150 hours of unpaid work, after pleading guilty to performing a sex act under a blanket beside a woman and her young son on an Emirates flight from Dubai to Newcastle. Although he later sought to withdraw his guilty plea, District Judge Kate Meek refused the application, citing the seriousness of the offence and the inability of passengers to remove themselves from the situation. Lorence was also ordered to pay £914 in costs and a victim surcharge.

Police attended a car boot sale near Leeds Bradford Airport after reports that a baby had been left alone in a hot car. Witnesses said the child was strapped into a car seat without an adult, water or milk, while staff tried to locate the parents. West Yorkshire Police identified and spoke with both parents, and enquiries remain ongoing to establish what happened.

A nine-year-old girl died after being found with serious injuries at Elliot Industrial Estate in Arbroath shortly after midnight on August 3, 2026. She was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee but later died.
