HWANYONG KIM is a journalist based in Seoul, South Korea. I spent 10 years as a staff reporter at The Seoul Shinmun, a major South Korean daily, where I covered diverse beats in the Editorial, Social Affairs, and Industry departments, as well as its sister weekly, News People. During the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis (IMF crisis), I was honored with the Scoops of the Year Award for my breaking coverage on the resignation of Daewoo Group Chairman Kim Woo-jung, and I also received the Outstanding Reporter Award at News People. Following this, I spent 15 years at the VOA (Voice of America) Korean Service's Seoul Bureau. There, I established my expertise as a senior journalist by delivering in-depth and wide-ranging coverage on politics, security, economy, and human rights issues in North Korea and Northeast Asia. Throughout my career, I have accumulated extensive experience in content production and reporting across diverse media platforms, including print, radio, and television.
