New Beethoven drama comes to Wolverhampton's Midlands Fringe Festival
Actor Mike Venables presents a one‑man play exploring Beethoven’s life, accompanied by pianist Rebecca Weston. The production traces the composer’s early struggles, artistic rise and battle with deafness, highlighting key relationships and the mystery of the “Immortal Beloved”. After a well‑received premiere at the Midlands Arts Centre, it is set for performance at the Midlands Fringe Festival in Wolverhampton.

Creativity meets nature at free EcoPoetree workshop in Walsall
A free EcoPoetree and creative arts workshop will take place on August 1 at Caldmore Community Garden in Walsall, offering inclusive activities such as poetry, storytelling and art for participants of all ages and abilities. Organised by AccessAbility Arts with the aim of fostering creativity, wellbeing and community connection, the event will be facilitated by DK and Charlotte McDermott. Attendees are encouraged to bring creative materials and book in advance, with admission free.

Walsall storyteller Cath Edwards will present her show Shakespeare: Tattle and Tales at the Midlands Fringe in Wolverhampton, drawing on little‑known legends about Shakespeare and Stratford‑upon‑Avon. Developed through her research into regional folklore, the show includes audience interaction and material inspired by her published works. Edwards, chair of Walsall Writers’ Circle, will perform on July 17 at K teas Cakes.
