Two Merseyside areas among places with England's lowest healthy life expectancy
New Office for National Statistics figures show major geographic disparities in healthy life expectancy across England and Wales. Birkenhead Central in Wirral ranks among the 10 lowest areas for both men and women, with healthy life expectancy of 47.8 years for boys and 50.5 years for girls; Tranmere is also among the 10 lowest areas for men at 49.7 years. The highest figures are recorded in affluent southern areas, led by Knightsbridge, Belgravia and Hyde Park, while Blackpool accounts for several of the lowest rankings, highlighting a pronounced north-south and socioeconomic divide.
