UK Heatwave: Yellow Heat Alerts Issued as Temperatures Set to Soar to 36C
The UK is preparing for its fifth heatwave of the year, with yellow heat health alerts in parts of England from Saturday through Tuesday and temperatures forecast to reach 36C in East Anglia and south-east England by Thursday. Scotland and Northern Ireland are expected to see heavier rain while England and Wales remain mostly dry and increasingly warm. Prolonged heat and exceptionally dry conditions have contributed to wildfires, drought and falling reservoir levels, with England’s storage at 69% and July the driest on record for England and Wales. The National Trust is urging the Government to make tackling climate change a national mission.
