Cardiff City v Wrexham: Changing Times as Welsh Blockbuster Awaits
Cardiff City and Wrexham meet in a highly anticipated Welsh derby, their first league encounter in 24 years, with global attention amplified by Wrexham’s international profile and the Welcome to Wrexham documentary. Cardiff have returned to the Championship after one season away and are widely expected to struggle, although manager Brian Barry-Murphy and former Wales striker Malcolm Allen believe they can surprise opponents. Wrexham narrowly missed the play-offs last season and are targeting promotion after adapting to life in the second tier. Beyond local bragging rights, the match offers both clubs an early opportunity to establish their ambitions for the 2026-27 campaign.

Wrexham's US tour highlights club's stock is higher than ever
Wrexham's third US tour in four summers has underlined the club's exceptional commercial and fan appeal, with victories over Leeds United, a narrow defeat by Liverpool and strong support from American fans. The tour is part of a wider international growth strategy driven by owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, the Welcome to Wrexham documentary and new investment. Wrexham reported record revenue of £33.3 million in 2024-25, with North America and other overseas markets generating most of the turnover, and expects revenue to rise to £46-50 million in 2025-26. Manager Phil Parkinson acknowledged that extensive travel could affect pre-season preparation, but the club continues to invest in sporting infrastructure, appoints Steve Nickson as sporting director and upgrades the Racecourse Ground as it targets further progress in the Championship.

Swansea City close in on signing of RB Salzburg's Moussa Yeo
Swansea City are close to signing winger Moussa Yeo from Red Bull Salzburg, with the 22‑year‑old expected to complete a medical ahead of a permanent move. Yeo previously worked with head coach Vitor Matos and is being signed to strengthen the club’s wide options following recent departures and limited goal contributions from current wingers. The Mali international scored twice in 30 appearances last season, including in the Europa League, and has prior experience in Austria with Salzburg and FC Liefering. Swansea have also added centre‑back Stephen Welsh from Celtic earlier in the summer.
