Lake District Planners Reject 60 Square Metre Holiday Lodge
The Lake District National Park Authority refused an application by Joanne Archer of Leavesway Properties Ltd to replace an existing camping pod at Willow Tree Barn in Brigsteer, near Kendal, with a 60-square-metre lodge containing two bedrooms and open-plan living space. Officers considered the proposal to be new housing for holiday letting that did not qualify under exceptions for tourism development in the open countryside. They also found that its scale, materials and form would harm the landscape, the character of the converted former barn and the area’s heritage value. Helsington Parish Council had similarly raised concerns about its visual impact.
