Explosion on Bridge Street in Bungay Cut Power to 73 Houses
An explosion on Bridge Street in Bungay created a hole in the pavement outside the Grade II listed Hermitage, caused heat damage and prompted a road closure and emergency response. Fire crews could not determine the cause despite using gas-monitoring and thermal-imaging equipment. A fault on an underground cable cut electricity to 73 properties, including the Chequers Inn, which closed for the remainder of the day. UK Power Networks restored power by 10.20pm and later continued cable repairs, while temporary traffic lights remained in place.
