Meanwhile, the Ministry of Water and Environment has allocated Shs3 billion towards the Agoro irrigation scheme in Lamwo District, with a total government investment of Shs30 billion, including funds from the African Development Bank. The Ugandan government plans to construct over 70,000 small-scale irrigation schemes across the country to improve agricultural productivity. Uganda has one of the highest irrigation potentials in the world, yet it has the lowest percentage of utilization in East Africa.
