North Belfast man told to expect prison after 70-year-old killed
A Belfast van driver who was three times over the alcohol limit when he struck and fatally injured a 70-year-old pedestrian has been told to expect a prison sentence. John Taggart pleaded guilty to causing Paul Marshall’s death and to driving with excess alcohol. The court heard he had been drinking throughout the day and was filmed consuming alcohol shortly before the collision. Sentencing is scheduled for Friday, with the judge allowing Taggart to remain on bail due to his partner being in labour.
