Drivers are warned of about a month of disruption on the Leeds-Bradford route while road repairs and resurfacing take place on Stanningley Bypass from 27 July to 26 August 2026. The work is part of the £44m Dawson’s Corner and Stanningley Bypass improvement scheme, which includes wider carriageways, safer pedestrian and cycling facilities, congestion-reduction measures and a section of the Leeds-Bradford Cycle Superhighway. Contraflow systems, overnight closures and a 30mph speed limit will be introduced, with several bus services affected and the New Pudsey railway station stop temporarily out of use. Leeds City Council expects the phase to finish by 26 August and the wider project by early 2027.

Huddersfield station will close for five consecutive weekends in July and the first weekend of August for the next phase of the Transpennine Route Upgrade. Network Rail will install a new station roof, extend a footbridge, complete platform surfacing and install lifts, supported by replacement bus services and diversions. The work prepares for a further 16‑day closure in September focused on track and drainage improvements at Gledholt Tunnels, following earlier upgrades between Huddersfield and Leeds. Network Rail highlights long‑term benefits including modernised, electrified infrastructure and improved passenger experience.
