Bath City FC’s board and supporters’ society have recommended selling the community-owned club to an investor group led by Andrew Stalbow, who has raised £6m from around 50 investors. Stalbow would become chairman and aims to develop the club’s infrastructure, improve its chances of success and eventually reach the Football League. The proposal follows relegation and mounting financial pressures, with a shareholder vote scheduled at Twerton Park on 13 August 2026.

Ellen Barber says growing up on a Somerset farm and around Paul Nicholls's elite horse-racing yard instilled the discipline and pursuit of excellence that helped her reach her Commonwealth Games heptathlon debut. After taking up athletics seriously as a teenager, Barber overcame three tibial stress fractures and a foot fracture that threatened her career, returning to win the UK Athletics Championships and set a personal best at the Hypo-Meeting. She will represent England in Glasgow alongside Jade O'Dowda, with two-time champion Katarina Johnson-Thompson absent through injury.

Nineteen-year-old Dorset boxer Ruby White has been selected to make her Commonwealth Games debut for England in the women's 51kg flyweight division. Unbeaten in 68 fights, White has won seven national championships, four European titles and the 2024 under-19 world title. She hopes to win Commonwealth gold, drawing inspiration from Nicola Adams and Lauren Price, before targeting the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Her first bout is against South Africa's Thandolwethu Mathiba in Glasgow.

Ollie Devoto announced his retirement after a career that included winning two Premiership titles and a Champions Cup with Exeter Chiefs. He reflected on his time in England and in the United States with the Chicago Hounds, calling the move to American rugby a positive experience. Having begun at Sherborne RFC and debuted professionally at Bath, he described his years at Exeter as part of a tightly bonded squad before closing his career with stints at Taunton Titans and in Major League Rugby.
