St Andrews Women Close to League Title After Strong Victory
St Andrews women moved close to a third consecutive Somerset County League Mid Division title after beating West Backwell on all three rinks by 25 shots. They also defeated Nailsea by 32 shots in a DRT League match shortened to 15 ends because of extreme heat. Congresbury Bowling Club Places Third in the Evening League

Bristol woman attempts world record at Balloon Fiesta
Jo Bailey, a 65-year-old former hot-air balloon pilot from Bristol, completed 68 tethered hopper-balloon ascents in one hour during the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta, surpassing the previous world record. After surviving emergency bowel surgery, sepsis and intensive care stays, she undertook the challenge to raise awareness of living with a permanent ileostomy and to support Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity and Crohn's & Colitis UK. First Bus driver in Weston reaches UK Bus Driver finals
Stuart Beetison, a First Bus driver from Weston-super-Mare, has reached the national finals of the UK Bus Driver of the Year competition. He is one of six First Bus drivers from southern and western England shortlisted for the event in Blackpool, where he will compete against 106 drivers from across the UK. Finalists were assessed on technical ability, customer service, manoeuvring, driving behaviour, safety records and customer feedback, with prizes of £1,000 and £500 for the top two First Bus drivers.

New School Street Scheme Planned for Weston Next Month

Cleeve Cricket Club’s first XI moved up to third in Bristol and District Division One after defeating league leaders Lodway by nine wickets.
