DWP rule change means longer wait for bus pass for these people
Eligibility for a free bus pass in England is being delayed as the State Pension age increases from 66 to 67 between 2026 and 2028. People born between July 6 and August 5, 1960, will have to wait until age 66 years and four months to qualify, with eligibility rising incrementally for later birth dates. The changes do not apply in areas such as London and Merseyside, where local schemes allow access to free travel from age 60. An online tool is available for individuals to check their specific eligibility date.
