DWP unveils new plan to keep disabled people working longer
The UK Government is expanding efforts to reduce long-term sickness by involving employers more directly in supporting disabled and chronically ill workers. Nearly 200 employers have joined the Keep Britain Working programme, which includes a new Workplace Health Intelligence Unit to standardise data on sickness and disability participation. Ministers argue earlier intervention and tailored support can boost workforce participation, while disability advocates warn against pressure that could compromise individual needs. The initiative is part of a wider £3.5 billion employment support package, amid ongoing debate over welfare reform and protections for disabled people.
