Five-year-old Jackson Crawshaw of Eccleston Mere Primary School raised £2,282 for Willowbrook Hospice after initially setting a £100 target. He was presented with a Good Citizen Award by St Helens Borough Mayor Stephen Little, following a nomination from councillor Michael Haw. Jackson’s parents said the hospice had supported their family in 2015 and praised their son’s commitment to helping others.

A planning application for 11 self-storage containers and boundary fencing at The Portland Centre on Sutton Road, St Helens, has been withdrawn. The scheme was intended to replace a lapsed approval for 16 containers for domestic storage use, with associated parking. The applicant withdrew the proposal after correspondence with St Helens Borough Council; no reason was given, and the applicant was advised to consult the case officer before submitting revised plans.

St Helens Borough Council has approved plans to expand Tower Tots nursery at Tower College on Mill Lane. The project will relocate nursery provision to a refurbished first-floor area, add 15 places, and increase total enrollment from 116 to 131 children, with staffing rising from 30 to 33. The nursery will operate independently from the school between 7am and 6pm on weekdays, with no significant external building alterations planned.
