Louise Sugden celebrated returning to Commonwealth Games competition for Team England after shoulder surgery and an injury-disrupted buildup, despite narrowly missing a para powerlifting medal in Glasgow. The 42-year-old, who won silver at Gold Coast 2018 and bronze at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, lifted a personal-best four kilograms and said she was proud of her performance. She is considering her future year by year but has not ruled out competing at Los Angeles 2028. Team England’s other para powerlifting medallists were Mark Swan with lightweight gold, Matt Harding with heavyweight silver and Olivia Broome with lightweight bronze.
