How humiliated Putin is plotting vengeance against the UK and Burnham
Andy Burnham’s visit to Kyiv is presented as a defiant signal that the UK’s longstanding support for Ukraine will continue. The visit coincides with the UK allowing MBDA to release classified information needed to establish Ukrainian production of SCALP, also known as Storm Shadow, missiles. The move follows Russian threats over British involvement and Ukrainian strikes inside Russia. Possible retaliation could include attacks on British troops overseas, sabotage, cyberattacks, damage to undersea infrastructure and confrontations at sea. The article argues that increasingly hostile rhetoric and deteriorating diplomatic relations reflect Moscow’s wider desire to restore Russia’s power and inspire fear in the West.
